'This is a tour de force, make no mistake about it . . . .The strength of Shell's writing is his ability to pull you into a terrifying , funny, immensely sad and exciting world.'
At the time ICED hit the stage nothing had been seen like it before. Adapted from Ray Shell’s 1993 hit novel, ICED is the story of Cornelius Washington Jnr; a 40 year old product of a middle class, stable American family…and a crack addict.
ICED charts the harsh realities of Cornelius’ grim present and the upheavals and excitements of his colourful past, as he edges closer to becoming what he most fears; a “Vampire Zombie”, one of the lost dead souls at the end of the addiction line.
This startling, enlightening and sometimes terrifying production was a shocking account of the addict’s life, and a compelling and often uplifting tale of human love and loss.
