Key Info

nitroBEAT is working in partnership with Mas Productions, an experimental theatre company that creates work which seeks to combine the immediacy of music and the conceptualism of live art with theatre and interactive ritual forms.

Lady Vendredi: Battle Cry!

Imagine Grace Jones in a live Blaxploitation movie directed by John Waters

Cult music icon and Afrofuturist Lady Vendredi is a mythopoetic blaxploitation super heroine and vodou priestess popstar from another dimension. She time travels, is a member of a radical female cult and is on a mythic quest. She has numerous origin stories that constantly morph change and grow.

With her band the Vendettas and an international ensemble cast, she will be launching her new single ‘What time is it?’ within an immersive dance-theatre-ritual performance driven by a pumping live soundtrack of traditional Haitian vodou grooves, experimental music, global bass, jazz and hip hop.

Music Advisor – Gilles Peterson
Director - Jonathon Grieve

“Move over M.I.A and Santigold… dancefloor hold tight”
[Ty - British Hip Hop Artist]

“The love child of Azealia Banks and Neneh Cherry”
[Artsy - New York Style Magazine]

Previous audiences:
“Lady Vendredi is erotic and electric”
“Infectious and joyous”
“it affected me to a level I've never felt before.”
